It’s never too late to be who you were meant to be”
~ George Eliot
Trauma can be caused by a variety of experiences. More typical traumatic events include: rape, sexual abuse, physical abuse, war, and natural disasters. However many of the clients I work with have unique traumatic experiences as well, including: neglect, poverty, living in families with addictions or mental illness, medical trauma, and other overwhelming events.
We can’t define trauma simply in terms of event magnitude. Trauma is relative, and conveys a subjective sense of “I am doomed”.
Trauma survivors remember with their symptoms, and these symptoms are what often bring them to treatment…
Trauma survivors are 6 times more likely to experience Major Depression and they are 3-6 times more likely to experience one type of anxiety or another. As uncomfortable and frustrating as these symptoms are, they help you survive. You and I will seek a better understanding of your symptoms and help you to heal and move forward.
As a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional – Level 2, I’ve been helping people survive and thrive for over 25 years.
